Food - Excellent; Decor - Very Good:
Service - Excellent:
On a morning when the hotel dining room fare was picked over and all the seats were taken, my 16 year old daughter and I were having a last romp of the summer up the Maine coast, found Martha's Diner and were super-pleased we did. It was busy enough for us to know that it was good before we took our first bite, but not so busy that we had to wait for a seat because the place had been "discovered." Our server, Marinka, was pleasant and just chatty enough it didn't detract one bit from the excellent service she gave us. We both ordered Specials. My daughter had the sweet potato pancakes, which were to die for, and I had the breakfast burrito which was large enough that I know I'll skip lunch. I also had a side of bacon, and it was cooked to order perfectly, crispy, just the way I asked. The side order of home fries - hand cubed by Martha herself with Maine harvested potatoes. Everything was clean. The decor was retro 1950's - checkerboard floors and sparkly red vinyl chairs and booths. Its a real 50's diner, a bit of Americana, but itís not a knock-off. It's the real deal. Just doesn't have the juke-box. Lot's of homage to Lucille Ball, the obligatory Elvis, and I Dream of Genie. Marinka made a mistake on the bill, costing me an additional 80 cents, but the server at the cash register caught it. So there you have it in a nutshell. Itís a real dinner, with real food, and real, honest people. Cash and local checks. Leave your credit card at home. If you're eating somewhere else, you're missing out.
I visited from Seattle, WA and heard many great things about Martha's. My server was Tanya who was extremely friendly and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. Even when it was busy she took the time to chat. The food was delicious. I will definitely come back the next time I'm in town!

It's a classic greasy spoon. I loved it! Try the corned beef hash! Trust me, it's awesome. I liked the food, service and atmosphere. The value was great.
